One Person Dead In Grand Junction Apartment Fire

It was a tragic end to the weekend in Grand Junction.

An apartment fire in Grand Junction Sunday evening claimed the life of one individual while six others were able to escape unharmed.

Here's What Happened

According to the Grand Junction Fire Department, firefighters responded to a 9-1-1 call just after 9:30 Sunday evening. Calls to 9-1-1 indicated that multiple units in the apartment complex in the 500 block of Highway 50 were on fire.

Engine #4 was the first on the scene and was able to confirm there was a working structure fire at the address. The GJFD says crews worked quickly to extinguish the flames inside separate apartments and were able to keep the fire from spreading to nearby buildings.

One Dead, Six People Unharmed

Once the fire was out, crews were able to search the building and discovered one deceased adult inside the complex. Six other adults were able to evacuate the premises and were not injured. Fire officials are investigating the origin and cause of the fire.

Huge Response From Local First Responders

The Sunday night fire required a large contingent of first-responders including five fire trucks and two ambulances and the Grand Junction Police Department was also on the scene to help with the investigation and safety at the scene. The people who were displaced by the fire were assisted by the American Red Cross.
