After taking submissions, voting on the final ten names, then the final three names, the new elementary school in Fruita has a name. Fruita's new school is Monument Ridge Elementary.

The Grand Valley's newest school is an elementary school in Fruita, which is on 18 1/4 and K.4 Road. To find a name for the new school, District 51 took submissions, narrowed them down and then asked you to vote.

According to D51, more than 2,500 people voted in an online survey. The final ten names for Fruita's brand new elementary school were the following:

  1. Canyon Ridge
  2. Desert Edge
  3. Desert View
  4. Fossil Ridge
  5. High Desert
  6. Monument Ridge
  7. Sunset Ridge
  8. Trailblazer
  9. Trailhead
  10. Trail Ridge

Those ten names were then narrowed down to these three names:

  1. Monument Ridge Elementary
  2. Fossil Ridge Elementary
  3. Canyon Ridge

The D51 voted between these three names, right after they broke ground. The name for Fruita's brand new elementary school is *drumroll please* Monument Ridge Elementary School. According to District 51, the new elementary school in Fruita will be 62,000 square feet, two stories and will have preschool through fifth-grade students.

Monument Ridge Elementary Shcool in Fruita is expected to open in Fall 2020. The school will cost $25 million to build and is funded by a combination of bond savings and premiums from the 2017 bond measure, according to District 51.
