It is a slow process, but Mesa County is making progress along with the rest of Colorado in moving forward with the next vaccination phase.

Getting the COVID-19 vaccine to those who are age 70 and older has been the initial priority. Mesa County Public Health has had contact with more than 16,000 individuals in regards to getting a vaccine appointment scheduled and has been working through a list of about 1,000 people who want to be contacted by phone.

Where We Are At Right Now

Currently, the focus is on the age 65-69 category, and Mesa County has contacted more than 4,000 people for scheduling a vaccination. Anyone over the age of 65 is being encouraged to fill out the vaccine interest form on the Mesa County Public Health website. Oftentimes, within just a few days a link to the self-scheduling system is sent directly to people who sign up. So far, more than 26,000 vaccine doses have been administered in Mesa County.
