Mesa County has reverted to the Safer at Home phase, due to an influx of COVID-19 cases.

Mesa County was in phase 3 of reopening which is the Protect Our Neighbors phase, but now, we're moving backward. Mesa County has revered back to phase 2 of reopening, which is the Safer at Home phase.

There has been an influx of coronavirus cases here in Mesa County. According to Mesa County Public Health, we currently have 161 positive COVID-19 cases in the county, which is the highest it's ever been. This is why Mesa County has reentered the Safer at Home phase.

There have been 171 new cases of coronavirus just in the last two weeks in Mesa County. This brings the total number of positive cases in Mesa County to 1,184 since the start of the pandemic, according to Mesa County Public Health.

There are currently 8 people hospitalized due to COVID-19 in our county and sadly, 6 people have passed away from coronavirus in Mesa County, according to Mesa County Public Health.

Mesa County Public Health advises all Mesa County residents to avoid crowds, confined spaces, and close contact will others. According to Mesa County Public Health, Mesa County has reverted back to the Safer at Home phase and is currently in the 'cautious' level because of:

  • Number of cases in a two-week period
  • Percent positivity
  • Hospitalizations

Mesa County recently changed the capacity limit and last call time due to the increase in COVID-19 cases in Mesa County and now we're moving back a phase. Face masks are still required per state order and according to Mesa County Public Health, the Safer at Home phase means:

  • Retail, places of worship, and restaurants - 50% capacity
  • Group sports - 50 person capacity
  • Indoor events - 175 person capacity
  • Gyms - 25% capacity
  • Bars that don't serve food - must close
