Look at What You Missed at Yesterday’s GJ Market on Main

Did you get a chance to check out last night's (July 16) Grand Junction Market on Main? If not, you missed a ton of great farm fresh local produce, goodies, and an incredible live band.

I had the opportunity to swing by the Market on Main at the Grand Junction Convention Center's parking lot yesterday evening around 7. The selection of produce was excellent, especially for this early in the season. Not only that, the new location at the convention center really works.

How does the new location function? There are essentially three "rows" in the parking lot just south of the convention center at 1st Street and Colorado Avenue. As you enter each row, please look down. Foot traffic is being directed in specific directions in order to observe social distancing regulations. I was the guy who didn't see the direction signs and kept walking against traffic.

Even with the new location, the market pretty much unfolds like any past Grand Junction farmers market. You have local growers, artists, performers, and food trucks. At a glance it appears this market offers roughly the same number of vendors as past years. As a matter of fact, this year's market features pretty much the same growers and vendors you're used to.

There was a last minute change in the music lineup yesterday. The scheduled band for July 16 was the Grand Junction based Bluegrass band Desert Canyon Riders. Due to an illness, the band hand to cancel. A local three-piece cover band jumped in at the last minute and put on an awesome show. For only three guys, they were cranking out a ton of sound.

Downtown Grand Junction's Market on Main runs every Thursday from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. through September 24, 2020. You'll find public parking available in the parking garage of the Convention Center and the surrounding lots and streets. Per City ordinance, no pets are allowed at Downtown events.
