Grand Junction Kiwanis Pancake Day Finally Returns
After a one-year absence, the annual Pancake Day, put on by the Kiwanis Club of Grand Junction is back.
We Really Missed the Pancakes Last Year
One of the event casualties of 2020 was the annual Kiwanis Club Pancake Day that is typically held every June in Grand Junction. It's been a Grand Junction tradition for over 50 years where hundreds of people gather to enjoy a pancake breakfast, socialize, and support one of the city's fine service organizations. With most large public gatherings being canceled last summer because of the pandemic, the Kiwanis pancake day could not be held - and I was pretty disappointed.
Kiwanis Pancake Day is Coming Soon
With the month of June now far behind us, you may have thought the Kiwanis Club Pancake Day had come and gone, but, the good news is, you didn't miss it. The event was moved to a later date and will be held on Saturday, August 21 from 8am to Noon at Grand Junction Convention Center.
Of course, the Pancake Day & Fun Fest is more than just good food - it's a great family event that features activities for kids, live music, and a huge silent auction. There's even going to be a pancake decorating station for those that like to "play" with their food.
For just $6, you get all-you-can-eat pancakes, eggs, ham, coffee, and juice. The price couldn't be any better - and on top of that, children under age 12 are free.

Making an Impact On Our Community
The best part of all is the fact that when you attend Pancake Day you are actually helping the community where you live. Proceeds from the event are donated by the Kiwanis Club to local non-profit organizations like Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Catholic Outreach, Western Slope Center For Children, Special Olympics, and Strive.
You have seen in the news recently the story about a wheelchair-accessible swing at Canyon View Park. The Kiwanis Club of Grand Junction was one of the sponsors of that project. That's just one example of how the Kiwanis Club gives so generously back to the community.
Making Plans
Over the years, I have missed very few pancake days and I'm definitely not missing this one. If you have never been to the Kiwanis Club Pancake Day, I would encourage you to make plans to bring the family out for some delicious food, a fun time, and a really wonderful feeling of goodwill.
