From air filters to undercarriages, we have seven tips to help you make sure your equipment's ready for the job!

I get bombarded with sales emails all the time, most of them wanting me to interview them about their products. One however, came as a timely reminder that spring's just around the corner and so is mowing the yard! Is your mower ready to tackle your yard?

Thanks to RepairClinic's email, I know my mower will be, and by following these sevens  steps yours will be too! Of course you need to always consult your owners manual or a small engine repair shop for the proper recommendations and installation processes, but according to RepairClinic.

  1. Use a clean air filter-It should be cleaned or changed every 25 hours or once per mowing season.
  2. Use a clean fuel filter-Fuel filters should be replaced; they cannot be cleaned..
  3. Replace oil-At least once per season or every 25 hours of use. Check to make sure it is golden or amber in color every eight hours of use, it darkens the older it gets.
  4. Replace the spark plug-The spark plug should be replaced at least one per season.
  5. Check the blade-A blade should be sharpened every season and replaced every one to three years, depending on usage. If bends, dents and/or other damage are found, it should be replaced immediately to avoid accidents.
  6. Check tire pressure-Periodically, use a tire pressure gauge to ensure consistent tire pressure.
  7. Clean the undercarriage-After every use, hose off grass clippings and debris while the mower is off and the spark plug is disconnected.
