Columbus discovered America? Wrong. First of all, Columbus never even set foot in North America. His four voyages took him to the Caribbean, Virgin Islands and South America, but he never spent one second in North America. Historians prefer Viking Leif Erikson to have that title. Yet, we continue to celebrate Columbus Day?

Abraham Lincoln hated slavery? Well, not exactly. He didn't necessarily like slavery, but he didn't have much choice. It was sanctioned by the Constitution. He did begin the process of Emancipation and freeing the slaves, but only in Confederate states.

Thomas Edison invented the light bulb? Although Edison DID invent numerous items that greatly improved people's lives, this one is not true. He did, however, own the patent for it. He bought it from Heinrich Goebel.
