A Greeley woman is in deep trouble after she was caught transporting 4,420 grams of cocaine from Mexico inside her vehicle engine.

The Greeley Tribune reports that the Weld County Task Force had been investigating large amounts of cocaine showing up in Northern Colorado. A confidential informant and an unknown person put together a drug transaction that would land over 4,000 grams of cocaine in Northern Colorado.

The informant was set to pick up the drugs on October 3 at the Clarion Hotel, located at 8th St in Greeley. The informant showed up with a Greeley undercover officer and met with 31-year-old Irene Gomez-Carrasco, who was driving a Toyota Sequoia with Mexican license plates.

Gomez-Carrasco told the officer that he'd have to "go inside the engine" for the drugs. Gomez-Carrasco then handed over the keys and the undercover officer took the vehicle to a secure location. The Greeley Police had their K-9 agents walk around the vehicle and the dogs quickly located the cocaine.

After a search, police found five packages in the engine wrapped in foil tape. That afternoon, police took Gomez-Carrasco into custody on charges of distribution of cocaine.
