Grand Junction Speaks: Dumbest Things We Believed as Kids
There is at least one thing we all have in common and that is we were all kids once upon a time.
Not everybody had a happy childhood and not everybody received love from their parents, but I would say most of us have memories of things our parents told us - that may or may not actually be true. It's possible you've told some of these tales to your children.
* Drinking coffee will stunt your growth
* Sitting too close to the television will damage your eyes
* Looking at porn will make you blind
* Your face is gonna freeze that way
I asked our Facebook friends to tell us what the dumbest things were they believed as kids and we got some great responses
Janis - "My mom would tell me that I was the prettiest girl in the world!"
Donna - "that you went to the flea market to buy fleas."
Trisha - "that growing up would be fun."
Jules - "my belly button was from the Indian that shot me."
James - "that my parents were normal."
Rhonda - "that people don't hurt you on purpose."
Lana - "that Jackalopes were real."
David - "that I'm important."
Thom - "that our dog's name was 'In or Out' "
Erin - "if you swallow a watermelon seed it will grow in your belly
It's amazing how the words we heard as kids have stayed with us through the years, and in many cases have had a lasting impact.
