Grand Junction Murder Suspect Pleads Guilty
pleaded guilty to second-degree murder.
In exchange for dropping a first-degree murder charge, along with false imprisonment, child abuse, and kidnapping charges, the 30-year-old Grand Junction woman will return to a Mesa County courthouse on January 26.
From KKCO NEWS11, Mesa County Assistant District Attorney said that the sentence will be somewhere from 16 and 48 years in prison.
This the case of the 2016 death of three-year-old Bethanie Johnson. Gosset was the child's aunt and legal guardian. On March 17, 2016, police found Bethanie dead at the Gossett home on the 3000 block of North 14th Street. An autopsy revealed that the victim was covered in bruises and had received multiple severe injuries to her head. The cause of death was determined to be blunt force trauma.
The judge has ordered Gossett to be held without bond.
