At what point do people stop getting second chances? Before I go on a rant I will admit that I have made many mistakes in my life, but I always try to learn from them so they aren't repeated. But when you decided that you are above the law and think that it is okay for you to drink and drive whenever you want to, there need to be some very strict consequences for your actions.

The Daily Times is reporting that 37-year-old Andre Deswood of Grand Junction has now been charged with a third-degree felony of aggravated DUI (and refusing the breathalyzer). There are other smaller crimes that he will be facing such as no driver's license, no insurance, and improper display of registration.

This latest incident began at 10:45 a.m. on Saturday, December 5th. A New Mexico Police officer noticed a silver Honda and ran its plates to make sure everything was good with the vehicle and its registration. That is when the officer was notified that the car was listed as unknown for insurance.

At that point, Deswood began exiting a gas station and the officer began the traffic stop. There was a strong odor of alcohol coming from the vehicle and Deswood couldn't provide his license or registration.

The officer asked where he lived, and Deswood pointed East but couldn't explain where he lived. A field sobriety test was administered and Deswood was arrested. At first, he said he had nothing to drink, 30 minutes later he admitted to 3 beers. There were unopened containers in the vehicle, Deswood did refuse a breathalyzer.

When being booked into jail law enforcement noticed six previous DWI convictions on his record. Deswood's next hearing is set for December, 23rd.

Please remember to not drink and drive.
