One of the Best Days of the Year for Dogs

I used to take my dog, Fluffy, to "Dog Days" every year. For the record, Fluffy really sucked when it came to swimming. He was the best dog in the world, but he refused to get in the pool. Take note, Fluffy enjoyed any chance to get in the mud or run into a bog of filthy pond water. When it comes to swimming pools, forget it.

Dogs Only This Sunday

So, when Dog Days roll around, does this mean the dogs jump in the pool with you? No! Humans are not allowed in the pool on this special day. This Sunday, it's dogs only!

What if your dog isn't big on swimming?

Would you want to jump in a pool wearing a mink coat? Even if they don't go off the high dive, they can still interact with hundreds of other dogs, play, and even chase tennis balls and Frisbees around the fenced-in pool area at Lincoln Park.

Five Reasons You Should Attend

Here's the list of reasons why you should participate in this Sunday's event:

1. Following a hot summer, your dog has earned a relaxing day in the pool.

4. Your dog could learn rescue diving techniques and eventually save a life.

5. There is something very enjoyable about watching dogs having fun.

Dog Days is this Sunday, September 8, 2024, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The cost for "Dog Days" is $8 per dog. Proceeds benefit the Roice-Hurst Humane Society and the Billy Crawford Memorial Scholarship Fund.

Small dogs weighing 25 pounds or less get to use the pool first, with hours from 10 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. All other dogs can swim from 11:00 a.m. to 2 p.m.
