Does any Bar or Restaurant in Grand Junction Serve a Corajillo?
No, I didn’t just make up the word Corajillo, it is a drink that I was served in Mexico while on vacation a few months ago. I’ve never had such a delicious drink, although I’m sure part of it included the fact that I was poolside in 70 almost 80 degree weather and they just kept going down like water. But I hadn’t heard of them until a few months ago and now I want to know if they are served anywhere in Grand Junction?
What is a Corajillo?
According to Wikipedia a carajillo is a hot coffee drink in which hard liquor is added. It’s big in Spain as well as lots of other Latin American countries. There are multiple different variations of the drink as the one (or forty) that I had was an iced coffee drink with Licor 43 added to the caffeinated beverage. But variations include using brandy in Cuba, or rum in certain parts of Mexico.
The History Behind the Delicious Corajillo Beverage
The corajillo was created when Cuba was still a Spanish providence and was supplied to military officers combining coffee and rum to give them courage.
The beverage is rather sweet but it was a fantastic blend of flavors as I love coffee and this Licor 43 used in the cocktail wasn’t overpowering. I seriously had probably 8 in one afternoon while reading my book by the pool. I wasn’t sober when I left the pool area but it was a very mellow and fun drink. So, now I need your help, is there anywhere in Grand Junction that makes a corajillo?
