GJ Police – Stay Vigilant While Scammers Take Advantage of Crisis

The Grand Junction Police Department asks you to "stay vigilant" while scammers prey on the public's fears and concerns during the Coronavirus pandemic.

According to the GJPD's post on Facebook, scammers are using various methods to take advantage of people during this crisis:

• scams
• fraud
• price gouging

Remember: scammers ❤️ crisis. It suits their desire to prey on fear and urgency. Be vigilant and don't fall for it!

The website StopFraudColorado lists a number of ways scammers are attempting to capitalize on this situation.

• Watch for emails from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) or experts claiming they have information about the virus.
• Watch out for those asking for donations, especially if they request donations by cash, gift card, or wire transfer.
• Don't click on links you are unfamiliar with.
• Websites selling bogus products.
• Be cautious of websites requesting donations for victims.
• Online offers for vaccinations.
