Say that ten times fast and it still wont be as much fun as the Knights of Columbus Annual Friday Fish Fry!

Although I am not Catholic this is one of my families favorite annual events, and it all goes to benefit a great cause!

  • When: Every Friday through March 22nd
  • Where: Immaculate Heart of Mary at 790 26 1/2 Road in Grand Junction
  • Time: 4 to 7p
  • Donation: $8 bucks for adults, $7 for children 6 to 12 and under 6 are free

Last year it included your choice of

  • Baked Cod
  • Breaded Pollock
  • Green Beans
  • Mashed Potatoes
  • French Fries
  • Clam Chowder
  • Coleslaw
  • and a wide variety of desserts
  • plus drinks, and don't forget to bring some extra cash if you'd like some alcohol!

So not only do you get some of the best fish in the Grand Valley and great fellowship with folks in the community, you're doing good in your own backyard because the Knights of Columbus council 13621 use the funds raised to support local charities!

I learned last year that most Catholic fish fries are an annual Lenten tradition. Lent being the 40-day period before Easter celebrated by various Christian denominations, and during Lent, many people fast or giving up certain types of luxuries or foods as a form of penitence.
