With the Fourth of July creeping closer, this is the perfect time to learn a little bit more about fireworks, which are as much a part of the holiday as barbecues, parades and American flags.

Needless to say, but we'll do so anyway, you shouldn't try this at home. You don't want to be like those nimrods who set them off in a Walmart and put your life -- and the lives of others -- in jeopardy.

Then again, maybe you don't care about the science of fireworks when you're looking deep into the dark night and seeing the sky light up. Either way, enjoy the fireworks this holiday, everyone.

Remember, If it blows up or goes up it is illegal in Colorado. You also need to be aware of the high fire danger on the wWestern Slope right now. Even sparkler can start a fire is not properly disposed of.
