Dating Someone with a Restraning Order-‘To Run or Not to Run’

Today's Question of the Day comes from another listener needing advice, long story short, she's really into a guy that she's been seeing for a while now, but she just found out that he has a restraining order against him from his ex. Now she's wondering if she should even be dating him & doesn't know if she should be concerned about the issue or not.

I think it’s probably different for a girl then a guy when it comes to dating someone with a restraining order, what do you think?

Heather Smith Maybe find out what the restraining order is for! Girls cry wolf alot. He could of been the victim or accused of something he did the do. I've watched my male friend get beat by his girl. He was arrested. Sent to jail. Had to do domestic violence classes and got a restraining order put on him from her.

Sean McCall No, I think in either situation you better ask the ex why they have a restraining order. Never know when Jekyll will show. If you find out why they have a restraining order you'll know one of two things, 1) if the ex was a phyco, or 2) if the guy or girl you're seeing is. Pretty much solves the issue.

Virginia Breckon Hmm. Ask him. Long talk is in order. Ask him to let you read all the paperwork from the police and court. Be aware .... He could be the victim but his ex could be out to get him. Listen to your tummy, and the back of your neck. I know many women who will cry wolf and file for a restraining order for revenge.

And Ami Martin RUNNNNNNNNNNNN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! There is a reason why the restraining order was put in place. Trust me she doesn't want to take chances with that kind of baggage. If she does then more than likely she'll be the next one to have a restraining order against him.
