Wednesday was a very special day for me, more than my birthday and possibly Christmas. It’s National Hamburger Day.

Now, the history of the burger remains debatable. Some claim New Haven, Ct. is the birthplace while others argue that Seymour, Wisc. holds that claim. Other places such as Hamburg, N.Y., Athens, Texas, Tulsa, Okla. and even Walla Walla, Wash. will tell you that they are the real home of the hamburger.

Personally, I don’t care where it originated, I’m just glad someone invented it! Let’s take a chunk of ground meat, put it on fire and then slip it in between a bun. Genius! Don't get me talking about toppings, that's a debate for another day!

So, the question is who in Grand Junction area has the biggest, baddest, best burger?

Bin 707 | 225 N 5th St. Grand Junction 81501 (970) 243-4543

They say that food is their passion and by looking at the menu I believe it. Not sure what a Bin Burger is, but it sounds awesome!

Rockslide Brew Pub | 401 Main Street Grand Junction 81501 (970) 245-2111

From the Bison burger to the Big Bear BBQ burger. Looks like it'll take me a while to try all the different Rockslide combination.

The Ale House | 2531 North 12th Street Grand Junction (970) 242-7253

From Colorado Bison burger to the Irish Elk burger. The Alehouse is definitely spanning the burger globe.

Jimmy'z Hamburgers | 840 N. 12th Street Grand Junction 81501 (970) 243-8551

The Grand Mesa burger, a Bullard Egg burger ( I have NO idea!), the Big Cheese to the Rockstar burger. I guess there is a reason why the word hamburger is in the name of the place. The question is, which burger to start with?
