Great progress has been made producing vehicles and machinery that use alternative fuels. A Grand Junction construction company will tell you gravel is not one of them.

Here's the unfortunate, and expensive way they found out. Sometime between 3:30 p.m. Friday, January 12th and 6 a.m. Monday, January 15th someone went to the construction site at Mariposa Drive and Ridges Boulevard.

While they were there, they poured gravel into the fuel and oil tanks of several pieces of heavy equipment including a Linbelt Lid Excavator, Caterpillar D6C bulldozer, John Deere bulldozer, and a roller compactor. Total damage from the vandalism exceeded $30,000.
