Multiple residents around west Fort Collins reported seeing a black bear roaming through neighborhoods on August 18.

A Nextdoor.com member first saw the bear around 8 a.m. Tuesday morning in an open space in the Ponds neighborhood off of Overland Trail. Another resident posted a photo of the bear drinking from her hummingbird feeder and also said it was snacking on her strawberries. Later in the afternoon, the bear traveled north and made its way north to Timber Lane.

Wildlife officers were ultimately able to locate the bear near West Elizabeth St. and Taft Hill Road. They tranquilized the 100-pound male bear and relocated him to a remote location in the mountains, away from people.
