Company Involved In Deadly Colorado Crash A Repeat Offender
The trucking company that owns the truck that caused a fiery wreck that took four lives has had over 30 violations in the last two years.
Castellano 03 Trucking, based in Houston, Texas, owns five trucks and employs five drivers according to the U.S. Department of Transportation, and has been authorized to work in multiple U.S. states and carry a variety of freight, including agriculture, construction and other types of freight.
The violations include several instances where the vehicles failed inspection on a number of brake issues. According to the driver, who was arrested, the brakes failed and he was unable to stop the vehicle.
The four victims, who have been identified, had been stopped on the highway due to another accident. Video of the truck as it made its way towards the crash site show the vehicle out of control as it came down the hill.
Included in the violations were several violations handed down because the drivers were not able to read or understand sings nor able to be understood by investigators.
Aguilera-Mederos is being held on a $400,000 bond and is being held while the investigation continues on four counts of reckless vehicular homicide.
He will be charged Friday when he next appears in court.
