Colorado Teacher Arrested on Suspicion of Sexually Assaulting a Student
When you find someone in a position of power and they use that power to do bad things it makes the crime even worse.
It’s disheartening to find out that earlier this week a Colorado teacher was placed under arrest on suspicion of sexually assaulting a student at a Mancos, Colo. high school.
The disturbing details come from the Durango Herald regarding the suspect, 28-year-old Armando Lee-Martinez a first-year teacher in Mancos. Lee-Martinez is facing a four felony charge for the alleged crime.
How the Investigation Began Regarding the Teacher Who is Accused of Sexually Assaulting a Student
Law enforcement first heard of the “teacher and student relationship" and began an investigation on Wednesday, April 14 which led them to Lee-Martinez.
Lee-Martinez was employed at Mancos High School as the school’s Spanish teacher for all students in grades 9-12.
There was enough evidence to find that a crime had been committed and Lee-Martines was taken into custody by the Mancos Marshal’s Office.
What Charges Will Armando Lee-Martinez be Facing in the Case Regarding Sexually Assaulting a Student?
These are very serious charges and could mean some lengthy prison sentence if convinced on all four felony charges which include:
- Sex assault on a child by a person in a position of trust as part of a pattern of abuse, a Class 3 felony.
- Sex assault on a child victim age 15-17 by a person in a position of trust, a Class 4 felony.
- Sexual exploitation of children, induce or entice, a Class 3 felony.
- Tampering with physical evidence, a Class 6 felony.
