Colorado police and other agencies are cracking down on drinking and driving. That means adding extra patrols on our roads.

New Year's Eve is always a time for fun and parties. But play it smart or it could cost you.

Last year, more than 400 DUI arrests were made over the New Year's Holiday. Three people were killed. Colorado Department of Transportation and law enforcement urge us all to play safe. Enlist a designated driver. Make arrangements with one of those sober driver companies. Planning ahead makes all the difference. Don't just assume that'll you'll be fine and able to drive. That rarely works out for the best.

The overall cost of a FIRST time DUI offense is more than $13,000.00.

More than likely Mesa County will have sober check points across the area as well.
