A Colorado pitbull, whose name is Drools, just got adopted after spending 729 days at a shelter. This is how the shelter got Drools adopted after almost 2 years.

Stories like these make us tear up -- but in a good way. A pitbull/boxer mix spent almost two years at an animal shelter in Monte Vista patiently waiting for someone to come pick him up.

Drools loves snuggling, he loves people and kids, and is a beautiful brindle dog that should have been adopted a long time ago. Kacey Widetich didn't want the sweet dog to wait any longer, so she moved in. According to KAKE, Kathy moved into Conour Animal Shelter on October 22.

She documented her move in and how much the dogs loved her being at the shelter on social media, and Drools blew up. According to KAKE, Drools was featured in People magazine and websites all around the world, thanks to Kathy.

12 days after Kathy moved in, Drools was adopted. Josh Simpson from Boulder picked up his new best friend and Josh, Drools, and Kathy all look so excited. We can't believe that this adorable dog had to wait nearly two years to get adopted, but we're so glad that he did.

Kathy says that Drools wasn't the only dog that was adopted after she moved in. Three other dogs at Conour Animal Shelter were adopted too. According to KAKE, Kathy said that shelters like this one are understaffed and don't get to market each dog like they should and:

If my spending the night in the shelter for a few nights helps even one dog get adopted, I will have done my job.
