This Colorado Trend Uses a Green Light to Say ‘Thank You’
The number of green porch lights glowing in Grand Junction's neighborhoods at night is growing. If you are unsure what the color means, it's easy to understand.
The nationwide green light movement is a heartfelt way to show support for our fellow Americans. The green lights signal our thanks and appreciation to veterans who have served Colorado and the Nation.
The Meaning Behind Colorado's Green Light
Green is a color that has long symbolized hope, renewal, and well-being. In Colorado, a green light signals the 'Greenlight a Veteran' initiative. A green exterior light shows veterans a sign of support. 'Greenlight a Veteran' is a statewide and nationwide effort.

Operation Green Light Coast To Coast
The National Association of Counties (NACo) and the National Association of County Veterans Service Officers (NACVSO) launched the greenlight initiative in 2021. It started with green lights during the week of Veterans Day; now America chooses to shine a green light for vets year-round. Local governments in Larimer and Montezuma counties light up public buildings with green lights and encourage residents to do likewise.
Showing Your Support Is Easy
Showing your support is as easy as replacing your porch light with a green bulb. You can find green bulbs at Home Depot, Walmart, Target, and other places. They cost between $4 and $10.
