We all know that the Pine Gulch Fire is burning north of Grand Junction right now and is over 83,000 acres but that is not the only wildfire that we are dealing with in Western Colorado. The Grizzly Creek Fire continued to burn in the Glenwood Canyon over the weekend and that one is also extremely difficult for firefighters to contain as the terrain and the weather are making things very challenging.

As of yesterday (Sunday, August 16th), the Grizzly Creek Fire had burned 25,690 acres since being started on August 10th. No one is sure the cause of the fire yet, but that is not as important and trying to get this fire under control.

Currently, there is zero containment on this fire but there are 15 hand crews, 13 helicopters, 32 fire engines, 7 water tenders, and 4 bulldozers as well as lots of support personnel working to fight this fire.

The White River National Forest has decided to expand their closure in place to protect the public safety and support the firefighter's efforts. The updated map with the extended closure map can be seen here. The area now extends from the Forest boundary with Flat Tops Wilderness, then east to the Forest's eastern boundary, and as far west as Adams Lake.
