Colorado Congresswoman Lauren Boebert's intention to carry her gun to work has gotten the attention of Washington, D.C. police.

Boebert posted the social media video on Sunday declaring "I will carry my firearm in D.C. and in Congress."

According to the website Politico.com, lawmakers in the Capitol are exempt from prohibitions on firearms as long as they are stored in their offices, and transported safely and unloaded. However, carrying a gun on the streets of the nation's capital is another story.

Washington D.C. Police Chief Robert Contee III is quoted as saying Boebert "will be subjected to the same penalties as anyone else that’s caught on the D.C. streets carrying a firearm." He says he wants to make sure she understands what the firearms laws are in the District of Columbia.

In the video, Boebert lays out a pretty convincing argument of why it's important that she carry a firearm on the streets of Washington, and she sounds determined. But, while she may sound defiant in the video, a spokesperson for the Rifle, Colorado congresswoman is quoted as saying Boebert will  "comply with all applicable firearm laws and regulations."

We don't know yet how Boebert's first term in Congress will pan out, but, one thing we can be sure of is that she is a woman that is not afraid to speak her mind.

Boebert said in a TV interview she knows the DC laws and has already taken the necessary concealed weapons course to carry in the capital city.
