The best way to beat this Western Colorado summer heat may be at Friday night's(July 29) Chilled by the River event in Grand Junction.

United Way of Mesa County is putting on this event from 6-9 Friday evening  that will bring people out for adult summer beverages, food trucks, outdoor games, and live music by the river at the Western Colorado Botanical Gardens.

The $20 ticket includes three drinks and live music from Leah Rachelle, and Destinee Reed and the Sink Creek Band. Plus there will be outdoor games like bocce, badminton, giant Yahtzee, and inflatable archery.

The Botanical Gardens is an excellent venue for live music and is a great place to relax on a Friday evening. Bring a chair or a blanket --and some insect repellent is probably not a bad idea. By the way, they will have non-alcoholic beverages available.

All proceeds from this event go to United Way of Mesa County's annual fundraising drive. United Way currently provides funds to 46 local programs.

Tickets for Chilled by the River are available the United Way of Mesa County Office on the third floor of the US Bank Building in downtown Grand Junction. Tickets will also be available on site when the gates open at 6:00PM.
