We first saw Walmart make the announcement that they will not be open on Thanksgiving for shoppers as they want to give all of their employees the opportunity to spend that holiday time with their families, and now Target has taking the same stance.

The announcement was made this morning in a press release on the Target website, which you can read by clicking here. In the release they talk about how this holiday season will be different from years past, which is absolutely true, this whole year has been drastically different from years past.

But what I really appreciate about this message is not only are they putting their employees before company profits but also that they are making the announcement months in advance.

Also in the announcement made this morning by Target they discuss their holiday plans which include marking down prices as early as October so people can begin shopping for deals earlier this year. They are also working to make more than 20,000 products available to customers including lots of grocery items through their pickup and delivery services in an effort to lower the risk of any of their customers contracting COVID-19.

They are encouraging customers to sign up for their company email letter so you stay in the know about any other changes that might come down as the holidays approach as well as let you know about money-saving offers. But the biggest change announced this morning was about not being open on Thanksgiving, but it will be interesting to see when they open their doors for Black Friday shoppers.
