Abandoned Puppies Left In Woods Near Rifle

If you have information on someone who dropped about nine newborn puppies in the woods, please call authorities.

There are places you can take puppies or animals and drop them off. Take a dog or a cat to an animal shelter. There are several in the area.

Last Friday authorities with the Garfield County Sheriffs Office were called to investigate nine puppies abandoned in a wooded area near Rifle.

Abandoning an animal is a misdemeanor and carries a minimum fine of $500 with the possibility of six months in jail,
