Which Star Trek Captain Had the Best Hairdo?
Trekkies were recently asked to vote for the best hairdo on a Star Trek captain. This seems like a no-brainer since Captain Picard and Captain Sisko are both completely bald and Kirk wears a toupee. The results are in, and the results may surprise you.
Coming in dead last, probably because he has not hair to speak of at all, is Captain Sisco, portrayed by Avery Brooks, with 7% of the vote.
It does come as a bit of a surprise that one of only two starship captains with their own hair actually came in second to last. Captain Archer, played by Scott Bakula, came in with only 9% of the vote.
Placing dead center of the heat, with an impressive 27% of the vote, Captain Picard, brilliantly portrayed by Sir Patrick Stewart.
Surprisingly, to me at least, coming in second, is Captain James T. Kirk himself, aka William Shatner, and whatever life form sat on top of his head and died, with 28% of the vote.
The first place winner comes as no surprise. Sporting beautiful locks of her trademark red hair, Captain Kathryn Janeway, known here on Earth as Kate Mulgrew, received 30% of the vote.
Writers Choice:
I have to go along with the popular vote and agree with Kate Mulgrew's first place win. It does seem, however, that one famous Star Trek captain was left out. Let's not forget, Spock was promoted to Captain just prior to Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan. Why did he not make the list of candidates? I haven't a clue. So, for the purposes of this survey, Captain Spock, aka Leonard Nimoy, receives the award for writers choice.
