It's been nearly a decade since Amendment 64 passed in the state of Colorado. The amendment, which legalized recreational marijuana, passed on November 6, 2012, with 55.32% of the voters in Colorado.

The first recreational marijuana dispensary opened on January 1, 2014, and since then the industry has flourished in the state of Colorado. According to ColoradoPolitics.com, as of January 2020, there were a reported 572 retail stores and 438 medical dispensaries in Colorado.
