The Ebola virus is all over the news. One man in Texas was diagnosed and is now dead from the virus. Do you need to worry in the Grand Valley?

The simple answer is yes and no. If nobody in the Grand Valley has traveled to West Africa in the last 21 days or has come in contact with anyone who has, we should be okay.

But what if...

Grand Valley hospitals are preparing for the small possibility that someone may have come in contact with the deadly virus. Nurses and doctors are advised to wear eye protection, special gloves and gowns when dealing with someone who has Ebola like symptoms.

  • Headache
  • High fever
  • Abdominal pain
  • Sore throat
  • Weakness
  • Joint and muscle aches

If you have similar symptoms and have been to West Africa in the last 21 days or have been in contact with someone who has, you should probably get to the hospital. But call and warm them you are on your way so they can be prepared for you.
