Mesa County United Way has come up just a little short of its goal for 2015-16.

This year's mark to hit was $1 million. The Grand Junction Sentinel reports this story.

But, to be fair, that is a pretty big goal. Even with the many contributions from businesses such as Xcel Energy, Target, Marillac Clinic, Fuoco Motor Company, WPX Energy, Hoskin, Farina & Kampf and the top tier contributions from HopeWest Hospice, St. Mary's Hospital, city employees and the employees of the school district and all the others couldn't quite topple the million mark.

The Grand Junction Sentinel article stated that around 100 volunteers put in over 2,400 volunteer hours for this year's campaign.

But, the United Way is not disappointed by any means. Here in Mesa County, they were able to raise $870,000. That ain't just chicken feed!

The past few months have been tough on Mesa County and Grand Junction residents with constant fundraising efforts, some even overlapping each other. So, to raise almost $900,000 dollars is definitely something to be proud of. And remember, all that money stays in Mesa County!

But still, maybe there is someone or even a group of people that can help reach that $1 million target. I'm sure they would greatly appreciate that.
