It was 30 years ago today that moviegoers caught their first glimpse of television's "Reverend Jim Ignatowski" in command of the Klingon Bird of Prey with the premiere of "Star Trek III: The Search For Spock." Does anybody have any ideas as to why Reverend Jim was in command of a Klingon ship?

"Taxi" star Christopher LLoyd was cast to play the lead villain, Commander Kruge, in the third installment of the Star Trek movie franchise. That film opened June 1st, 1984. Audiences weren't quite sure what to think of Reverend Jim in the role of an evil nasty guy.

When it was all said and done, though, the film was a hit, and did incredibly well at the box office, falling just a little short of the tremendous success of its predecessor, Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan.
