We spoke with the manager, Jake Libarger, and he told us that Gemstone Tattoo & Piercing is a tattoo and piecing company dedicated to the clients. Their mission is to make sure that every person that walks through their door is welcome and is receiving the VIP treatment. The tattoo shop vows to give a personal and intimate experience to all clients. Jake told us that they want all clients to leave feeling like they're a part of the shop and the culture.

Gemstone Tattoo is having its grand opening event on March 14th. They plan to have a band (Killzero) play, have free pizza and would love to take this time to get to know everyone.

Right before their grand opening, Gemstone Tattoo is having a big flash event on Friday the 13th. They'll have a guest artist come in and plan on doing lots of flash tattoos.

Gemstone Tattoo is open 7 days a week from 12 p.m. to 7 p.m. and their hours may change in the future. Meet the Gemstone Tattoo & Piercing team:

  • Owners: Alexa Escalera and Kirsten Foster
    • Kirsten also does piercings and small tattoos
  • Manager: Jake Libarger
    • (Alexa is Jake's wife) Jake managed another tattoo shop in the Grand Valley before opening this one with his wife
  • Artist: Doc Arza
    • Tattoo artist and piercing apprentice

Jake told us that opening Gemstone Tatoo & Piercing was sort of a lucky moment sort of thing. Jake and his wife spotted the 'for sale sign' when they were at the comic store next door and the price was right, so they moved in.

Jake says that anyone and everyone is welcome at Gemstone Tattoo & Piercing even if you don't have a tattoo. They'd love to meet as many people as possible and make every tattoo experience life-changing. Jake says they want to change how the tattoo culture is viewed and make sure that the clients come first. Jake says they'll be with you from before the start of your tattoo, until after it heals up.
