A math teacher from Fruita has won a National award. Congrats to Felicia Casto!

The Milken Educator Award was presented to Ms. Casto at a surprise assembly on Monday. Rim Rock Elementary school Principal Sharon Kallus told KKCO News that Ms. Casto is fully deserving of this prestigious award because she shows students leadership and excellence.

The award also comes with a healthy financial reward of $25,000 from the Milken Foundation. The money can be used for anything, doesn't have to be solely on school or classroom issues.

Only 35 teachers across the entire United States receive the award every year. That's pretty rare air. It is also the first Milken Award to arrive in the Grand Valley since 2002.

Well done!
