The past couple of weeks we have checked out other Grand Junction locations in different states. Called them our 'Twin' Cities. Well, it has been discovered that Fruita has one.

Fruita, Colorado we all know and love. For such a small city, it has a ton of options when it comes to activities. Whether you're indoors or outdoors. It's always on all the lists of 'Best Place to Live', 'Best Outdoor Stuff To Do,' etc. And of course, the infamous Fruita Vampire.

But, what about it's long lost twin sibling? How can there be another Fruita? If there is, what in the world is it like? Most importantly, where is it?

Welcome to Fruita, Utah. Yup, that's right. Our neighbor to the west, claims it's own version of Fruita. Established in 1880, it was originally known as 'Junction.'  It was well known for its orchards, thus the name change to Fruita around 1902. So, what is Fruita, Utah like today? Well, the area didn't quite catch on and grow like it's better-known namesake. In fact, it was abandoned in 1955. Luckily, all was not lost, the U.S. National Park Service stepped in, bought the area and it is now headquarters, so to speak, for the Capital Reef national Park.
