It's not often that you hear awesome and Rangely in the same sentence, but that might change once the word gets out about all the cool stuff the Rangely area offers.

I have lived in Colorado for 34 years, and I have to confess I have never been to Rangely. It's not that I have anything against this tiny community of under 3,000 residents, I have just never had a reason to go - until now.

    Fishing, camping, swimming, and wildlife viewing are offered at Kenney Reservoir. Fishing enthusiasts may want to wander up for the Fishing Derby June 2-4. There are free boating and camping that weekend and there are various prizes and prize categories for fishing contestants.

    DINOSAUR 17 HANG GLIDING

    There is something totally cool about hang gliding and watching these flying machines soar through the air. Hang glider pilots gather from all over the country June 18-24 to compete for the title of National Champion. The starting line is at Cliff Ridge Launch near Dinosaur.

    CEDAR RIDGES GOLF COURSE

    Any community with a golf course has something going for it, and Cedar Ridges is a par 36, 9-hole course with a great price - $10 for 9 holes. Several tournaments are scheduled throughout the year - including night golf -- and there are a driving range and pro shop. Playing golf in the western Colorado desert - there is nothing like it!

    COLORADO NORTHWESTERN COMMUNITY COLLEGE

    Colorado Northwestern Community College offers a number of degrees and programs, but many people are drawn here to get their wings. The flight program, based out of the Rangely Airport, offers all levels of flight training and certification.

    RANGELY AUTO MUSEUM

    It doesn't matter where you go,  you're bound to find a collection of classic cars somewhere, and you'll find a great collection at the Rangely Auto Museum. The museum features rare automobiles and motorcycles - some dating back to the early 1900s.
