December 5–7, Music at Mesa and Karen Combs will present the 14th annual Best
of the West Music Festival featuring three public concerts and two days of
workshops for over 200 talented high school musicians from Colorado and Utah.

On December 5th, guest artist Timothy McAllister will present a solo saxophone
recital at 7:30 pm in the Moss Performing Arts Center Recital Hall. Timothy is a
professor of saxophone at Northwestern University and is a member of the famed
“Prism” quartet. Tickets for his guest recital are $15 for adults, $10
for seniors and $5 for students.

On December 6th, the CMU Wind Symphony will take to the stage at 7:30 pm in the
Robinson Theatre and will perform a world premiere composition by Roshanne
Etezady. The new piece is entitled "Invincible Summer" and was inspired by a
quote by Albert Camus. The Wind Symphony will also feature Timothy McAllister on
William Bolcolm’s Concert Suite in Eb for Alto Saxophone and Band. Guest
conductors for the concert are Carolyn Barber from the University of
Nebraska-Lincoln and Casey Cropp, retired band director from Rocky Mountain High
School. Tickets are $10 for adults, $8 for seniors and $5 for students.

The Final Concert will feature a variety of music by current composers, played
by three different student bands. CMU’s Marching Band Director, Jonathan
Hinkle, will conduct. The concert is free and will be presented in the Robinson
Theatre at 3:30 pm on Saturday, December 7th.
