This Saturday the World's Greatest Yard Sale (WGYS) kicks off at the Mesa County Fair Grounds. The gates will open up at 9am and the WGYS will go until 3pm. I've always found that when it comes to yard sales, the earlier you get up and get out the better.

Think about how many people come out to the WGYS. Were talking about over 2,000 people who are shopping for some of the same stuff  you are. How do you beat those people to the rusty treasure? Get there early.

Make a list of the items you are really looking for and stick to that list in the first couple hours. If you have to, partner up and split up the list. There is a lot of ground to cover at the WGYS so split up the duties. Have one person search the West side while the other searches the East side.

Most importantly, never ever take the first price the seller gives you. This is a yard sale so bargain with the seller. Obviosly, they are not going to budge a whole lot, especially at the beginning. If the item is out of your price range, come back in a few hours and if the item is still there, make another offer.

Something I have learned from watching American Pickers, try to bundle. If the negotiating of an item is going no where, try throwing another item into the mix. You can bundle a few items and see if you can come to an agreement on price.

Always remember to have fun and good pickens.
