Colorful Colorado is in full effect. The Fall colors have begun to show across Colorado and we are lucky enough to have all of this right here in our back yard. Some of my favorite places are with in hours of Grand Junction, and some are right here in Mesa County. Check out some of my favorites and share some of yours.

Right up the road on about 25 minutes away you can see the bright yellow and orange leaves on top of  the Grand Mesa. Great for a half day trip or you can grab your polls and sneak in a last minute fishing trip.

Powderhorn is hosting a Colorful Weekend event this weekend (Sept. 29-30) with chair lift rides to look at the leaves from the top of the mountain. Plus they will also have live music, the Powderhorn Challenge, Disc Golf and the annual 10 k Thigunawat. Should be a great weekend to go on the Grand Mesa.

One of my favorite places to look at the fall colors is up in Ouray about an hour and a half south of Grand Junction. What makes these fall colors so special is the back drop of the Red Mountains. Red Mountain Pass is one of the prettiest drives you 'll ever see and there are a lot of great places to pull off to stare in amazement and get some pictures.

Last year I was able to make the trip to Ouray 2 weekends in a row. The first weekend was exactly how I explained it before.

The second weekend I went right after they had just got dumped on by a storm. The red water and the fall colors with a white snowy canvas was amazing. If you have a chance to make it up to Ouray I highly recommend taking the trip, snow or dry. Maybe make a weekend out of it by staying in one of the old school hotels and soaking in the hot springs.

By living in Colorado sometimes we take for granted how beautiful our state is.We are surrounded by colors and the outdoors through out the year and especially in the fall. Take advantage of it this week before it's to late. These were some of my favorites. I am always open to checking out new places and I'm sure everyone else would appreciate you sharing some of your favorite places I haven't mentioned.
