Usually, these posts don't get that serious, but this issue is one that needs to be discussed.

Among many other items on the ballot this fall, for Colorado voters, is now this. The 'Medical Aid in Dying' measure. As of Monday, this controversial practice has joined other citizen petitions such as universal health care and a higher minimum wage. It is now up to us to vote.

The issue at hand is should terminally ill people be allowed to receive doctor prescribed drugs to end their own lives. Conditions for the Colorado version would be as follows:

  • Two qualified physicians must agree on diagnosis
  • Patient has less than six months left
  • At least 18 years of age
  • Patient must be mentally competent

If voted through Colorado would join five other states that similar type of laws for these types of situations.

This type of measure has been voted down twice before in Colorado.
