A Colorado baker is once again in hot water and being sued for refusing to bake a birthday cake for a transgender woman.

According to KDVR Fox 31, Jack Phillips, the owner of Masterpiece Cakeshop who won a partial victory at the U.S. Supreme Court in 2018 for refusing to make a wedding cake for a same-sex couple, is now being sued again.

Autumn Scardina, an attorney, attempted to order a birthday cake and requested the cake be blue on the outside and pink on the inside, in honor of her gender transition.

On Monday, during a virtual trial being conducted by a state judge in Denver, it was brought up that Phillips, as a Christian, had opposed making the gay couple’s wedding cake a few years back because of religious beliefs and that it involved a religious ceremony, but would sell any other type of product.

Now, a similar issue has Phillips and his cake shop in the spotlight again. In opening arguments, a lawyer representing Phillips, Sean Gates, said his refusal to make Scardina’s cake was about its message, not discriminating against Scardina.

Phillips has turned back other customers cake requests with other messages that he opposes including certain Halloween items.
