DENVER (AP) — Denver-area police agencies are telling spectators attending the Colfax Marathon this weekend to leave their bags and backpacks at home.

The request comes at a time when large race organizers across the country are setting up extra security measures in the wake of the Boston marathon bombings. Security will also be increased at the Memorial Day Bolder Boulder race.
