The average cost of going to the movies is up to $8.61 this year. That's without popcorn, drink or candy. And for just one person. Oh, and don't even get us started on the price of those concessions!

I remember (this may date me) going to see movies at a place called The Elago Theater as a kid and paying $1.75.

It's no wonder that every week a new movie comes out it sets a box office record. You can't compare today's box office with those of 20 years ago. First, the ticket prices are three, four or even fives times as much. There are so many more theaters and showings and as weird as it sounds, there simply more people. It's no wonder even Adam Sandler movie makes a ton of money.

Classic movies and record setters themselves such as Star Wars (1977), Jurassic Park (1993), E.T. (1982), Lion King (1994) and Titanic (1997) are being pushed down the all-time box office list by movies such as, well we won't mention any by name, but lets say "less than superior" efforts by Hollywood.

We are going to have to draw the line somewhere. How much is too much?

What's the most you will pay for a movie ticket before you stop going?
