Is Destroying 6 Tons of Illegal Ivory a Waste – Take Our Poll

I just read that Federal Wildlife officials are planning to crush more than 6 tons of ivory in Denver in an effort to combat illegal wildlife trafficking worldwide. Am I the only one that feels like this is a WASTE?

Don't get me wrong I understand that for the criminals to PROFIT from the illegal harvesting of ivory is WRONG, but if the good guys have it and the criminal can no longer profit from it don't you think we should sell it and use the profits to do some GOOD around the world instead of CRUSHING it?

I feel like, if some good could come from the elephants death then it wasn't all pointless . . .

According to Watchtower.org: "Estimates that the total volume of ivory presently stockpiled in African countries is at least 462 tons, worth 46 million dollars"
