A few weeks ago, ballots for the 2020 Mesa County Primary Election hit voter mailboxes and it's time to get those ballots in.

Most people have mailed their completed ballots in or have dropped them off at one of the ballot box locations around the county. There are others who on Tuesday, Jun 30 will be making the traditional trek to a polling location to cast their votes.

I have heard from some people who think the idea of mailing in a ballot or voting on any day other than the actual election day is an abomination. Others have expressed their appreciation for the convenience of the mail-in ballot or for being able to drop off a ballot whenever they are able. The fact that we are in the middle of a global pandemic certainly makes a strong case for submitting a ballot in advance of election day.

Regardless of where you fall on this "issue", the fact remains, on-site voting is available on Tuesday for those that prefer the traditional method of voting. There also may be individuals who, perhaps, misplaced their mail-in ballot and in-person voting gives them a chance to let their voice be heard.

Of course, there is one county race to be decided and that is for County Commissioner. Cody Davis and Ray Scott,  are vying for the Republican nomination to face Democratic candidate Kathryn Bedell in the November 3rd election. The winner will take over for District 1 Commissioner, John Justman, whose term is expiring.

If you want to vote in person on Tuesday, you can do so between 7 a.m.and 7 p.m. at one of three polling centers.
