Winter Weather is Back – Celebrate with February $1 Drink Special
A chain restaurant with locations in Western Colorado just unveiled their February $1 drink special. This month's offering should catapult you right out of the winter blahs, and right into a happier state of mind.
Each month Applebee's Grill and Bar locations around the country offer a new drink special. February's featured drink is one I don't recall seeing before. In the past, they've offered Vodka Raspberry Lemonade. February's drink is similar, with a little twist.
Here in Grand Junction, we're looking at snow tonight (Febrary 3, 2020) and tomorrow. The National Weather Service says we can expect a low temperature of seven degrees Tuesday night. We need a little something "summery" to get us through. By the way, I just looked it up, and it appears "summery" is a real word.
Summery
adjective
- characteristic of or suitable for summer.
Have you ever enjoyed a Vodka Strawberry Lemonade? I certainly haven't. Well, you can get one for the low price of $1 during the month of February at participating Applebee's locations.
What's in a Vodka Strawberry Lemonade, beyond the obvious? According to Applebee's official web page:
The $1 Vodka Strawberry Lemonade is exactly what it says it is. Vodka. Strawberry. Lemonade. A refreshingly simple drink with your three favorite ingredients perfectly suited to balance out this topsy-turvy month that only has 28 days. Or is it 29 this year? I think it’s 29.
I don't think I can go along with this. Lemonade alone has more than one ingredient, so this drink has to have more than three. The website heatherchristo.com uses the following ingredients for the drink:
- Strawberry Simple Syrup:
- 1 cup fresh strawberries
1 cup sugar - 1 cup water
- 1 cup fresh strawberries
- Lemonade:
- 1 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice
- 1 cup water
- 1 cup vodka
- mint and lemon slices for garnish
- ice cubes
Please note: the recipe above does not reflect the ingredients or portions used by Applebee's. The video below shows a different take on this beverage. Again, this does not reflect the ingredients used by Applebee's.
I've never been one for strawberry, so it seems I'll have to pass on this one. You, however, might enjoy the idea of picking up this drink at a cost of one lousy buck.
I called the Grand Junction Applebee's located on Horizon Drive, and they confirmed they are offering this $1 special for February. Why not take advantage of it? One of the reasons why I stopped going out for social hour was the cost of drinks. At the price of $1, you can't go wrong.
